Long time no blogspot! Abeg forgive me and permit me to say Happy New year darlings .

So I wrote this lovely piece by the help of the Holy Spirit a few days back. I believe it’s an incredibly special piece because the Holy Spirit legit woke me up and inspired me to write it, so I believe it would bless everyone that reads it. Here you go!

Fearless!
Unwavering!
Anchored on solid ground with faith on steroids !

I am  completely unafraid of defeat because the one who has never lost a battle assures me of victory.

Why would I not be at peace  after such an overwhelming and reassuring promise has been given by the one who is called the Promise Keeper?

He also says that He  would fight for me and I would hold my peace for the battle is His and I believe Him,  absolutely.  I have no iota of doubt that He would do what He has said He would do.

Knowing his track record of showing up and fighting for his children as recorded in Scriptures and also evidenced in my life in the previous battles he has fought on my behalf and won why  then should I fear? Why should I worry?

So what do I do until the  next battle is won and there is victory at last?

How?!

I continually praise and thank him whether victory is in sight or not because we walk by faith and not by sight. 

With the assurance that I don’t walk alone and I have the backing of the trinity. He has said He’ll  never leave me or forsake me and believing Him gives me the unwavering reassurance, hope and confidence that He won’t, not even for a second.

  I am still and I know that God is God. Whether it  seems like it or not I daily choose to be still because He has asked me to.

I am at peace because I have the Prince of Peace as my ally.

I  will  therefore rejoice  and stand still as I watch the salvation  of God until he shows up as the Lord of Hosts and gives me victory without a fight.

I therefore  beseech you Dearly Beloved, Fret Not, Find rest, Be still, and rejoice.

God can be trusted to win any battle(s)   your are  currently fighting and grant you total victory.

He has never lost any battle and he is not about to change now because  He is the same yesterday, today  and forever. If He has done it before, He would do it again.

Just be still, stand still, hold your peace and let the one who has never lost a battle fight for you and grant you victory while you praise him and continually rejoice and bless His holy name.

God’s Medicine 💊for us

God’s Word is the only medicine that does not have negative side effects. His Word brings healing, joy, strength and every other good thing or blessings you can think of.

When you medidate on it day and night, and are careful to do all that is in it, you SHALL have good success.

So feed yourself with God’s Word daily.
Once a day, twice a day, twice daily, thrice a day, whatever dosage you can afford to take in per time.

But know that with growth you would have to increase the dosage and frequency of taking your medication.

The good news is that the more you feed, the more you grow, the more powerful you are, the more God makes you His vessel and uses you, blesses you and prospers you.

So, have you taken your medicine today?

Listen to what I say, my son. Listen to my words. Never let my words leave you. Think about them and obey them. They will give life to anyone who understands them. And they will give health to their whole body.

Components of God’s Kingdom (His Presence)

When the presence of God is not in a place, the will of God can never find expression.

So before God began the project of creation, He had to bring His presence to overshadow the visible realm. It was within the context of His presence that He began the project of creation.

The presence of God is not just an atmosphere. It is the expression of the dominion of God. It is the expression of the government of God that derives from the nature of God.

When the presence of God comes to a place, the will of God would be compelled to find expression.

The reason we find chaos in spiritual operation is because the presence of God has probably been withdrawn.

You can be in the spirit and not in the presence because when the Holy Ghost is in you, you are in the Spirit, but when you are in the presence, you are in the aura, the dread, the fear and the government of God.

Paul taught us in Romans 8 from vs 9 that If you have the Holy Spirit, you are in the Spirit. You are in the Spirit because the Holy Spirit dwells in you and you are one with Him.

You are under the presence when you stay under the circumference of the dominion and government of God. So when God wants to establish any reality in any sphere, the first thing He does is that He introduces His presence.

That was why what God created was called Eden. Eden means the atmosphere of God’s presence and when the world was in chaos and God returned to the earth, the Bible says the earth was void, darkness was upon the face of the deep. What it means is tohubohu in Hebrew and it is emptiness, voidness, vacuum and endless waste because the authority of God no longer governed the earth.

That is why God began creation again the Bible says the Spirit of God came hovering upon the face of the deep.

He had to introduce His presence before creation or recreation could be possible.

So anytime God wants to bring any reality to the face of the earth, the first component of his kingdom that goes forward is the presence of God.

There would be no revival until men begin to discern the presence, government of God.

This is why everytime a revival is about to happen, men repent. The idea of repentance is for men to return or come back to the government of God.

Ask with belief.

To be able to boldly ask from God and receive that which you have asked of Him, you must believe that He is and He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek His face. I love how The Message translation puts it in Hebrews 11:5-6 , By an act of faith, Enoch skipped death completely. “They looked all over and couldn’t find him because God had taken him.” We know on the basis of reliable testimony that before he was taken “he pleased God.” It’s impossible to please God apart from faith. And why? Because anyone who wants to approach God must believe both that he exists and that he cares enough to respond to those who seek him.
King James Version says “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him”.

You cannot call on a God you do not believe in. This is why John 3:16 says that For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him,  shall not perish but have everlasting life. 

One thing that helps and strengthens our belief of God is knowledge of God.  The knowledge of God entails knowing who God is and the authority and power available to you as a believer and His child.

Scriptures says in Romans 10:13 KJV
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

NIV puts it this way,  for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

It is that simple,  anyone that calls upon the Lords name shall be saved. So why isn’t everyone saved?

I think the answer can be found in this Scripture:

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?
Romans 10:14 NIV

Simply put,  you cannot access what you do not know. Could it be  that’s the reason why there is a saying that knowledge is power? The importance of knowledge cannot be overemphasised.  The Word in Hosea 4:6 AMP  says, My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge [of My law, where I reveal My will].

Ignorance is a very dangerous thing and it is one of the weapons the devil uses in carrying out his 3 fold agenda. (To kill, steal and destroy)

The devil knows that once people know the Truth (Jesus) they would be set free, hence he tries everything to put distractions that would make one not to seek knowledge. He knows that everything needed to be an overcomer in Christ and exercise dominion here on earth and fulfil God’s purpose is in the Word of God.

This is why it is dangerous for a Christian not to know the Word. The devil is the father of lies while God is Truth.

It is what you know that would fuel your belief when the devil tries to plant doubts and unbelief in your heart and mind.

You can only declare the true promises of God concerning you as a child of God if you know the Word of God. This is why what we were taught in Sunday  School in children’s church, “Read your Bible,  pray everyday,  if you want to grow” should be our daily mantra.

There are certain things that you cannot find anywhere else apart from the Word of God.

If you do not read, study and medidate on the Bible how would you know about them and when to declare them to silence the lies and deception of the enemy when it comes knocking at the door of your heart?

You cannot solve a problem you are not even aware exists. The first step to solving any problem is knowing and acknowledging that there is a problem to be solved. 

It is therefore important that as Christians we seek knowledge.  Not just knowledge,  but godly knowledge. How can we find godly knowledge? The first place is in His Word. His written  Word. There are so many hidden truths waiting to be discovered by anyone who is willing to seek and find them.

Another source of knowledge is in the spoken Word of God. This is why the Bible says in Romans 10:17 AMP that “So faith comes from hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the [preaching of the] message concerning Christ.“
You need to constantly hear the Word to grow in faith which is essential in pleasing God. Scriptures put it this way, “.But without faith it is impossible to [walk with God and] please Him, Hebrews 11:6 AMP.

Be careful what you spend time and energy listening to. They go a long way in shaping your thoughts, desires and beliefs.

Another thing that strengthens our belief in God is the level of trust we have in Him.
The standard or measure of trust God wants us to have in Him is “With all your heart“. He also wants us “not to lean on our own understanding ” and “acknowledge Him in all our ways then  “He shall direct our paths.

Even if God wants to direct you, you have to trust Him enough that He would not lead you astray to obey Him and walk in the way or path He has directed you walk in. Jesus says, I am the Way,  the Truth and the Life. 

This means that there are ways, but there is a way and Jesus is that way.

Follow who know road. Jesus doesn’t just know road, he knows and is the way! So who better to trust wholeheartedly than the one who knows all things?

Human beings may betray our trust, but God would never betray our trust in Him.  It may seem like He is not going to fulfill His promises but God can be trusted. If He has said then He will do it. It is not your job to figure out how and when.  All you have to do is await the manifestations while trusting and believing that all things are working out for your God.

The understanding that His ways are not our ways and that God is never late, in fact He’s always on time would go a long way in reaffirming our trust in God.

When doubts creep in, reflect on past promises God fulfilled and let the fact that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever be your belief and source of strength,  faith, joy and hope.

If He has done it before then He would do it again. God is too faithful to fail. You cannot trust Him and end up being disappointed.  Never!

To build trust however, you must have and build a relationship and intimate friendship, communion and fellowship with God through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. 

The first step is acknowledging Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior.

The next step is accepting that “Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life]. 2 Corinthians 5:17 AMP

As  you intentionally nurture this “new relationship ” through constant meditation of the Word, prayer,  praise and worship, trust and intimacy is built and this is when what Jesus  said  that,  For this reason I am telling you, whatever things you ask for in prayer [in accordance with God’s will], believe [with confident trust] that you have received them, and they will be given to you.
Mark 11:24  AMP   becomes applicable and becomes your realty. 

Therefore, Believe and Trust, then Ask . Ask according  to God’s will as found in His Word and with the help of the Holy Spirit till your joy is full and you shall receive…

Until now you have not asked [the Father] for anything in My name; but now ask and keep on asking and you will receive, so that your joy may be full and complete.
John 16:24 AMP

Manual 2022 Conference: Act like a Lady, Think Like a Boss

Happy New Year Darlings!

I really do hope we are all enjoying 2022 so far. We’re in the 8th day of the second month and let’s just say God has been gracious so far.

Abeg una no go too vess for me. One of the perks of being a writer is that there are periods you really want to write but you can’t seem to put pen on paper (in my own case type on my phone to post here)

Guess what I have a podcast too. I haven’t even posted there since October 2021. Ye, who stoned me! It’s not my fault nau. Okay, no excuses, this year would be different. I’ll write here, on my blog and post on my podcast more often this year. So help me God.

Anyways enough shalaye

I’ve always been a huge lover of Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo (Pastor Kay ) and Pastor Mildred Okonkwo (Pastor M). You don’t even have the slightest cclue how many of their YouTube videos I’ve watched. They are such a huge blessing . I love how they preach the gospel in such a relatable and fun to listen to manner. They give me (and so many others I believe) the hope and the reassurance that marrying the right person is indeed a beautiful thing . Farida focus, this writing isn’t solely about the reasons I love Pastor Kay and Pastor M and their ministry. It’s about the Manual Conference 2022 which you went for on Sunday.

So I had been seeing the billboard of the Manual Conference 2022 almost everyday everytime I go out and where it was going to hold on Sunday no reach 1k transport from my house so I and my baby girl Comfort decided to register and go for the Conference. I mean, it did look like it was going to make sense. That was the best decision I made and the reason why is the crux of this blog post.

The Conference was a huge success from the beginning till the end.

It felt surreal being in the same room listening to both Pastor Kay and Pastor M speak. Pastor M basically launched and marketed her husband’s book 7 things I badly want to tell women (which is his birthday gift to women btw) while Pastor Kay charged us and spoke about 7 Limiting mindsets women have. They are;

1. I am beautiful and that is all that matters.

He said this one major lie ladies believe and that apart from being beautiful, we should develop being smart as beauty is not everything.

According to him, Your hair should not be more expensive than your head. Omo . This one enter sha.

Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful face on an empty head.
Proverbs 11:22 MSG

Charm can mislead and beauty soon fades. Proverbs 31:30 MSG

2. I can’t make money without trading my body.

3. It’s a man’s world

According to him, this is a huge lie especially as these days women everywhere are showing us that you can go as far as you want and achieve great feats.

4. I won’t be able to get a good man so let me manage a bad one .

It is better to be single than to be with a bad man. It is better to be unmarried than marry a cheating, beating man thinking and believing that marriage would change him. If he’s cheating before marriage, it might get worse in the marriage, if he’s hitting you before marriage, he might turn you to a punching bag when you marry. Take your time and marry right rather than regret marrying the wrong person. There is no scarcity with God.

5. I am inferior and incomplete without marriage.

Immediately I heard this one I was like Preach it Pastor Kay, please tell them, louder please . Marriage is work, it is an assignment rather than an achievement.

6. It’s a man’s job to take care of you

This one too sweet my belle. Let a man take care of you because he wants to not because he needs to. Stop being materialistic and waiting for a man to buy you things you can buy for yourself. When ya not disabled why should he be made to take care of you like it’s his job. Stop letting men devalue you because of material things. Be rich. That same car he’s taking you out in you can also buy one and be a car owner as well.

Ladies that have rich sugar daddies funding their needs usually have issues when they marry someone who can’t keep up with the life they’re used to. Imagine someone used to entering private jet, ya now telling her come we’re travelling with night bus oh. Problem!

If he acquires you like a furniture, he will treat you like one. Be industrious like the Proverbs 31 woman.

7. I can’t control how I feel

You are a meaningful specific. Find your purpose now before you get married. Marry a man that helps you fly,that is committed to your dreams. Manage your emotions. Don’t believe what he says,believe how he lives/his actions.

The major speaker was Mrs. Yemisi Edun , MD of First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Oh boy! She’s so pretty and a huge vibe, she made so much sense and was not boring at all.

We sang Sinach’s I know who I am before we started and she charged us to always sing it daily before we start the day’s hustle and bustle to remind us about who we really are. She say make una no chew mouth dey sing only “bla bla bla, I am” say make una learn the lyrics and sing them correctly. Once you play it repeatedly for about a week it’ll flow naturally no worry.

Her topic was How females thrive in male dominated industries.

People grow up believing different societal norms such as a woman’s place is in the kitchen, you shouldn’t speak too much etc but no matter your background you can retrain yourself.

As women, we are constantly learning and getting degrees hence her message would be labelled using the acronym PHD’S.

P. Praise. Always look for a reason to praise God.

Prayer. Empower yourself. Do the Prayer so you do not become the prey

H. Hardwork. Hardwork doesn’t kill. Laziness does.

Honesty. People should be able to rely on and trust you. Let people know what you stand for, who you are and what you are. Be objective. Be a person of value. Know and learn when to say No.

D. Determination. Set goals. Determination is a way to success. Don’t listen to excuses. Stop letting excuses stop you. Go for it.

Diligence. Proverbs 22: 19. Pay attention to details. Show what you have to thrive.

Study. Keep learning.

Support System . Build a Support system ❤. Let your husband know your vision and support you. Get a man that compliments you.

Socialise/ Network purposefully. Go out. Don’t live a triangular life. Omo, she dragged most of us with this one sha.

Now lemme drop extra gist!

I was able to get a selfie with Pastor M. OMG! She’s so so beautiful 😍. Her smile is just so pretty 😍.

I got one of Pastor M’s books and walked up to her to please sign the copy for me. I killed two birds with one stone. A lovely book signed by the author and an opportunity to talk to her and get a picture too. Smart move right!.

I’m such a sucker for books personally signed by the author.

The person I gave to use Snapchat to take a picture with Pastor Kay during the book signing say is “Ah the picture is blurry oh. Turns out it wasn’t blurry in the end.

Pastor Kay then said oya let’s do a selfie then.

And that’s how I got two pictures with Pastor Kay and got the chance to tell him he replied my birthday wish to him on Instagram and I was glad he did.

Another of my signed books written by my lecturer in uni. I’ve always been a sucker for signed books. I got the book even though I had a copy of the previous edition simply because he was going to sign it.

This might just be a sign that I may be a writer and author and actually sign copies of my book to people. Who knows?

Land of fury

Long time no blogpost.

Happy New year and Happy New month. I hope 2022 has been good so far

This post is rather short but I hope it encourages you to watch the movie “Land of Fury ” on YouTube, Damilola Mike Bamiloye’s channel to be precise.

I’ll be sharing 5 lessons I learnt from watching the movie. There are more, but 5 would do for this post.

I won’t be dropping any snippets or spoilers so you can go and watch and enjoy and learn from the movie yourself.

Here you go.

2 Chronicles 7:14 should be our guiding Scripture as individuals and as a nation.

1. The devil is powerful,  but all power belongs to God.

Sometimes the devil fills us up with so much evil. Many times we really desire to be set free of this evil but we can’t in our power. But there is power in the name of Jesus. Only Jesus can set a man free from the evils of the Devil.

2. Never underestimate the power in the name of Jesus and in the word of God.  Know the word and don’t be afraid to use and say it in times of trouble and despair.

3. The prayer of the righteous would always get answered. God is not deaf nor his hand short but sin is a major hindrance from God showing up as the God that answers prayers.

4. Spread the gospel at every opportunity you get. The Holy Spirit  would do the conviction but make sure you’re not ashamed of the gospel at any time or place.

5. Fight on your knees in the place of prayer. That’s the only way. Apart from praying to God, there is no other way

Bonus:  You’re never too far gone or condemned for God to save. As long as you’re repentant he’s ever ready to receive you with warm and open arms. Don’t be like the thief who despised Jesus on the cross.  Refuse to listen to the lie of the Devil that God wouldn’t accept you because of the many terrible things you’ve done.

You cannot kill a prince that has a king in him.

God loves you

If He watches over every sparrow, how much more does He love you? (Guess the song hehe)

He loves you more than you ask, think, deserve or imagine according to His power working in us. Whether you deserve it or not, he loves you. Never forget this. Be reminded of this. Let it serve as a daily and timely reminder

He demonstrated this overwhelming love by first of all creating us in his image and likeness. Even the angles had to ask “Who is man that you are mindful of him? His love is so unique that even when man fell as a result of sin, God had a back up plan to restore man and his fellowship/ communion with man. He sent his only beloved son to die on the cross in order for the final remission and atonement of the sin of mankind to take place. John 3:16.

If that doesn’t demonstrate and reassure you of God’s undying love for you, then omo, I don’t know what else will.

So whether you believe it or not, whether it feels like it, regardless of the present condition, situation or circumstance you may be facing, never doubt God’s love for you. When you look back at how God has kept you throughout this year you should see signs and reassurances of his incredibly amazing love for you.

Even when you sin or fall short, just like the prodigal son, once you repent, he embraces you with open arms and reassures you of his unending and incredibly amazing love.

God is so intentional about we his children, he knows our frame, he knows the number of hair on our head. If he cares for the lilles and sparrows, how much more we he beloved children.

Across scriptures, we see over and over again evidence that God loves us and he would never stop loving us. The Bible is full of blessings and beautiful promises for us. God only has thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give us a future and a hope. God has our best interests always. Even when it doesn’t seem like it, he is with us.

As you go through each day let God’s love bring you peace, joy and reassurance. Though weeping may endure for a night, joy comes in the morning . Meditate on Scriptures and let him reveal his love to you and you’ll see that indeed, no matter what is going on, God genuinely loves you and is the best companion/ friend anyone can have..

It all Begins with You

Have you ever wondered why on some days everything works out well and on some other days you have shitty annoying days where you feel like punching everyone???

The answer lies in how you start your day,  how you see yourself and what you tolerate or refuse to accept from people and situations.

People only treat you how you first treat yourself.  Bitter truth yh? But if you affirm positive things and have a high sense of self worth and self respect, people would also treat you and accord you that same respect and prestige.  However,  if you bend your head and body in shame,  cower in fear and have a pessimistic attitude that exudes defeat, people would only see you as a door mat they can trample on.

You do not want to feel and be treated like trash anytime I guess so I am bringing you tips on how to always have the right sense of self worth, respect and optimism  so people can treat you like you exude and which you rightly deserve.

Imagine someone while you were unworthy and undeserving dying for you.  Hard to rationalise I guess?

But that was exactly  what Jesus did.
He showed us that we are worthy of love, worthy to be died for even when we didn’t deserve or merit him doing so.
His death gives us direct access to God the Father. It also gives us a name to call. A name above all other names. When you call that name,  every knee no matter where must, (not may, Must) bow and every tongue must confess the supremacy of God. The sweetest part is that upon his death, resurrection and ascension into heaven, He didn’t leave us alone,  He left us with the Holy Spirit, our comforter,  teacher and intercessor.
Now imagine that the man (God in human form) is your brother. You do not even need to imagine. As Christians,  God is our Heavenly Father and Jesus is our brother and advocate.

With all this knowledge, your shoulder pad should always be high  (not proud oh, but a healthy self esteem )because  I mean you are the Child of the King of Kings. 
You matter to God  so you should also rate yourself highly and see yourself the way your Father sees you.  All His lovely  promises which you can and should declare daily are contained in his word  (The Bible).
Those promises are the best  daily words of affirmation which would help shape our day to be nothing short of the best.

When you have a high sense of self worth and respect,  there are certain things you would never tolerate or accept.  One of which is people trying to diminish,  look down on or treat you lesser than you would ordinarily treat yourself. There are also certain things you would not say or do in order to “avoid see finish ” or give people the opportunity to disrespect or treat you anyhow. You also wouldn’t put yourself  in certain compromising situations and you’ll do everything to protect your dignity and honour as God’s child and ambassador on earth.

Finally as God’s  children, God is not saying we won’t have or encounter bad days, but even on our worst days we have the soothing and comforting reassurance that He is with us and so we should always start out and go through the day with God. Trust me, it helps and most definitely goes a long way. 
Refuse to let one bad day feel less of the child of the King of Kings that you are. Determine to always start your day with God and positive declarations,  prayers and words of affirmation.

The hidden mystery behind our National Anthem/Prayer unraveled

This writing inspiration came in the spirit of Independence Day even though I wasn’t feeling the day at first so enjoy my darlings, rbjot

National Anthem is defined as “The official  song  of a nation that is sung or played on  public occasions.“

In Nigeria’s National  Anthem/ Prayer however lies certain solutions which if followed to the letter by leaders and all Nigerian citizens alike would  bring about  the much desired positive change in our land.

I , like everyone  else ust used sing them casually and  grudgingly  sometimes  to be honest until I got the insight and understanding I am about to share.

Please  connect with me and  see that enshrined in our National Anthem/Prayer and pledge  are all we need to excel and thrive  and excel exceedingly as a nation  and become  respected globally.

I will reveal the insight in the pledge  in a subsequent  post so stay tuned and anticipate  people.

Arise O Compatriots,

Arise is a command which means stand,  wake up, rise up. Compatriots are people who are born in or is a citizen  of  the same country  as others.

The first line therefore is a command, or  clarion for all Compatriots  of Nigeria to Arise.
You might be asking Why are we arising? Arising to do what?

The answer lies in the remaining lines.  You don’t believe me? Let me show you.

Nigerians call Obey.

Nigerians are called to Arise and Obey. 
Obedience is very key.
  Obedience is defined  as when someone what a law,  rule, etc  says  what  they must do.

Nigerians are therefore  called to Obey God  and all the laws of the land

To  Serve  Our  Father Land.

There is also a Call to Serve Our Father Land (Nation). Leaders and citizens  alike are called to serve. Service is the purest form of leadership.
Jesus, a perfect leader led but served and was service personified.
Our leaders should not attain political  posts to enrich their pockets but to Serve our Nation.

How are we to Serve our Nation/Father Land ???

With Love & Strength and Faith .

We are to Serve our nation (leaders  and citizens  alike ) with these three powerful things, Love, Strength (God’s  strength to be precise) and Faith

The Labours of our heroes past, Shall never be in vain.

This is a prayer and a command alike. For the labours of our heroes past not to be in vain, we must  attain great and lofty heights.

Great lofty heights attain.

To  what end are we attaining great and lofty heights so the labours of our  heroes shall never be in vain.

To Build  a Nation where peace and Justice  shall Reign.

It is to Build  a Nation where Peace and Justice Shall reign.

National  Prayer.

O God of Creation.
Direct our Noble Cause .

This is a call to the God of creation to direct only noble  cause(s)
As well as
Guide our leaders right.

Our leaders need to be Guided Aright.

Help our youths the truth to  know.

Our youths  need help in  knowing the truth

In love and honesty to grow.

We all need love  and honesty to grow and thrive as a nation.

And living just and true.

We also need to live in Justice and truth to attain  great and lofty  heights.

Great,  lofty heights attain.

Great lofty heights are attained
To build a Nation where peace and justice shall reign .

In conclusion I hope the next time  you sing the national  anthem and recite  the national prayer we understand that we all have a part to play with God’s help and divine intervention  to build a nation where peace and justice  shall reign .

Depression: My Story.

Long story short!

Sometime this year around early last month or so, I could feel myself sinking deeper into depression everyday.

I thought it was too much social media that was the cause so I went off social media for a while. It didn’t help that I had cramps around that period as well. (But it was a good excuse to give people that noticed sometimes was off about me. I had cramps, I’m not feeling too fine) .

It was tough I won’t lie and the worst part was i couldn’t talk to anyone about it coz “I didn’t want to disturb anyone with my own wahala” and “I couldn’t even express myself and say okay oh, this is what’s wrong, this is why I’m sad and unhappy”.

I’d cry myself to sleep, wake up ,go about the day and act like I’m fine all through the day” then sleep again.

The cycle continued for a while and now that I think about it I should probably have spoken about it to at least one person but like I said “I wasn’t even able to express myself clearly if I was to talk about it”. I just knew I was very sad.

Two people in particular kept asking “Are you sure you’re fine? “You don’t seem fine”.

At some point I couldn’t hide it coz our usually lively phone calls were filled with lots of awkward silence. Once they ask, my most convenient answer was “I’m good jare or I’m fine jorh”.

But deep down I knew I wasn’t and if I wasn’t careful I’d be depressed last last.

One of them literally drilled me till I almost gave in but like I said I couldn’t even talk about it in a way anyone would understand so I just said “I’m not too good actually, but I’ll be fine”

One night I was listening to songs on my phone and something just told me “Why don’t you listen to the gospel songs on your phone and let the lyrics speak light to this your dark moment”.

I have various playlists on my phone so I quickly switched to my  Hillsong United and Maverick City Music playlists.

I listened to all the songs from these two groups back to back, googled their lyrics and meditated on them and trust me gradually I felt the uneasiness, worry and sadness fade away.

It was as though the lyrics were speaking to me and my situation.

The lyrics were reassurances I needed to be reminded of.

I began to feel an overwhelming gratitude and I gradually stopped crying to sleep.

Everytime I was starting to feel downcast again , I’d listen to songs that’d cheer me up.

Then I found out about words of affirmation and I started confessing them. The ones I saw in the scriptures, the ones I saw in books.

So imagine my joy when I came online and I got to know someone that writes and shares Daily Words of Affirmation .

I’m absolutely fine now and that phase taught me a whole lot. Maybe I’d share the lessons learnt another day sha.

But please, take your mental health and that of people around you very seriously.

Depression is no joke.

We’re all fighting battles we don’t talk about .

Even we the “Happy, jovial, outspoken, social, noisemakers” have days and moments where we’re unsure and uncertain of so many things.

Moments our sanity is hanging on a thread.
Moments we can’t even share with anyone except God.

Guard and guide your thoughts and what you see/ listen to very jealousy. They’re very powerful . They can either help you come out of depression or push you into depression further.

Then please,please and please.

Be kind to people!

I can’t even over emphasize this.

One some of those days, people were really kind to me and it made me smile and hopeful that it’s a phase that would pass.

People might not be able to open up to you for various reasons but trust me your kindness goes a long way.

Your kindness or kind gesture might be the reason someone with suicidal thoughts decides that where there is life there is hope and gradually lets go of such thoughts.

I know things are difficult right now but please don’t stop being kind. I can tell you from my experience that it goes a long way.

Be light, spread light and hope.
